From the 5th to the 7th of September, Bibione held the event “G20 delle spiagge italiane” (G20 of Italian beaches). The idea came from the collaboration between the Municipality of San Michele al Tagliamento and Bibione Live; the local tourism promotion consortium. The meeting gathered experts, service providers, decision-makers and representatives of 20 seaside resorts from 7 Italian regions: Bibione, Cavallino Treporti, Jesolo, Caorle and Chioggia for Veneto; Lignano Sabbiadoro and Grado for Friuli Venezia Giulia; Rimini, Riccione, Cesenatico, Bellaria-Igea Marina, Comacchio, Cervia and Cattolica for Emilia Romagna; Sorrento, Forio and Ischia for Campania, Vieste for Puglia, Castiglione della Pescaia for Toscana and Arzachena for Sardegna. These 20 seaside resorts have been selected on the basis of the tourists overnights in seaside accommodation facilities. According to ISTAT, these holiday resorts are the top 20 for overnights which reached up to 60 million tourists in 2016, around the 15% of the overall national overnights.

The general objective of this three-day summit was to draw the common guidelines for a sustainable development, new innovative programs and strategic planning of the management of the seaside resorts.

The event was structured in two plenary sessions as well as one day of thematic discussions which focused on the different and common issues faced by the Italian seaside resorts: from the management to the financial resources, from mobility to the waterfront erosion, from infrastructures to services. From this sessions came out 150 proposals and some of them will be the work field for the next months.

Veneto Region representatives took part in the event introducing the CASTWATER project to the participants of the thematic board dedicated to the water management.

On the 7th of September, the 20 mayors of the municipalities involved gathered in Bibione to sign the commitment to round up once per year, making the G20 of the Italian beaches a permanent discussion board.
