SIMWESTMED / SUPREME final conference “Planning the Mediterranean Sea”

Supporting Implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning inthe Western Mediterranean Sea.

Venice – 12-13 December

The SUPREME and SIMWESTMED final Conference will take place the 12 and 13 December 2018 in Venice, at the Scuola Grande di S.Giovanni Evangelista (12/12/18) and Aula Magna IUAV Tolentini (13/12/18).

The two EU projects, co-founded by DG MARE, focus on two key objectives: to support the implementation of Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) processes in EU Members States of the Mediterranean Sea and to launch a cross-border cooperation in MSP initiatives.

The conference will be the occasion to learn more about the status of the implementation of the MSP Directive (2014/89/EU) in the different EU countries of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as to discuss different MSP matters such as the land -sea interaction, the coherence with the achievement of Good Environmental Status of the Sea, the economic trends of maritime sectors, the MSP transboundary issues. The results from the 9 case studies of the two projects in 7 EU Countries (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Malta, France and Spain) will be presented in an interactive poster session.
